Avoid “Eatslop”
Eating while you consume “content”. There’s nothing more soul-killing than this. You sit down, spend 10 minutes deciding what to watch while your food turns cold. And once you finally find something, it starts and takes a life of its own. You don’t know when you started and finished eating. It’ll take as long as you gain back consciousness again (hours). It’s so bizarre! once you start you effectively cannot snap out of it until the “content” runs out of novelty.
I mean, it makes sense. This is basically the epitome of human perception, you’re eating and also seeing something entertaining. Carnally, this is fulfilling two core needs. But you end up with effectively nothing. You can’t really enjoy the food no matter how good it is because you are always in search of better “slop” to watch. You can’t really enjoy what you’re watching in a super memorable way either (just my experience).
I’m calling this “eatslop”. Is this different from when you sat down to watch TV after school? Probably not because there were always commercial breaks to interrupt us. This phenomenon of having a pure trancelike state, where it’s just a relationship between you, your food and the screen seems new to me atleast.
